A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is an important member of the healthcare team. They provide basic nursing care and assistance to patients in hospitals, nursing homes and other medical facilities. Becoming a CNA requires knowledge, skill and dedication. This article will look at the steps involved in becoming a CNA.

What is a CNA?

A CNA is a healthcare professional who assists patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating and walking. They also provide basic nursing care such as taking vital signs, giving medications, collecting specimens and more. CNAs also provide emotional support to patients and their families.

Preparing to Become a CNA

Before becoming a CNA, it is important to understand the requirements and expectations. Researching the job duties, educational requirements and certification process is essential. It is also important to become familiar with the laws and regulations governing CNAs in the state where you will be working.

Becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant

The first step in becoming a CNA is to complete an approved nursing assistant training program. These programs are typically offered at community colleges, vocational schools and health care facilities. After completing the program, the candidate must pass a state-approved certification exam. After passing the exam, the individual is considered a Certified Nursing Assistant and is eligible to work in the state.

Becoming a CNA is a rewarding career path and requires dedication and hard work. With the right training and certification, anyone can become a CNA and make a difference in the lives of patients and their families.
