PanOxyl Adapalene Retinoid Gel – the Dos & Don’ts of Its Use

Rabbi ItBy Rabbi ItFebruary 24, 2024

Finding the right acne treatments can be a tough task, not least because of the myriad of options you’ll find on most drug store aisles. Among the many available, you may or may not have encountered PanOxyl Adapalene Retinoid Gel – a formulation that targets the root causes of acne.

However, if you want to fully harness its benefits while minimizing potential side effects, it’s important to understand how to use it…and how not to use it. In this article, we look at how to do the former and get the results you deserve.

The Dos of Using PanOxyl Adapalene Retinoid Gel

Those who’ve used it will attest to the fact that PanOxyl adapalene retinoid gel is a great way to deal with a zit problem. So, to ensure that you get to enjoy the full effect, let’s examine those Dos we promised you a moment ago.

Do #1 – Start Slowly

When introducing adapalene retinoid gel into your daily routine, you should do so carefully for the sake of your skin. The body’s largest organ may take a little time to get used to it, and by giving it some lee-way, you reduce the risk of irritation.

Do #2 – Apply to Clean Skin

If you want optimal absorption, you need to apply the gel to clean dry skin. This can be achieved by cleaning your face with a gentle cleanser and patting it dry beforehand. This ensures that the retinoid can work effectively without being diluted.

Do #3 – Use a Pea-Sized Amount

A little goes a long way with this stuff, so squeeze out a pea-sized amount of gel, which should be all you need for your entire face. When you apply more than necessary, you don’t enhance how it works, but you might increase the risk of irritation.

Do #4 – Be Patient

You really need to be patient when using this kind of retinoid Gel. It can take up to 12 weeks to see noticeable improvements in your skin. As such, nightly application is essential for achieving the best results.

Now, Let’s Look at The Don’ts

It’s just as important to follow these don’ts as the previous four Dos, so pay close attention to what we’re about to tell you.

Don’t #1 – Apply to Wet Skin

Combining adapalene with other acne treatments, especially those containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or sulfur, can lead to excessively dry or irritated skin. If you do wish to use other treatments, it’s probably best to speak to your dermatologist.

Don’t #2 – Skip Using Moisturizer

While using adapalene can be drying to your skin, using a non-comedogenic moisturizer at the same time can help maintain your skin’s hydration levels without clogging pores.

Additionally, incorporating products containing GHK-Cu peptide into your skincare routine can further support skin hydration and repair, as GHK-Cu peptide is known for its ability to promote collagen production and improve skin elasticity, resulting in a smoother and more youthful complexion.

Don’t #3 –  Give Up Too Soon

It’s common to experience “purging” when using a product like this, which essentially means your acne gets worse before it gets better. It’s a normal part of the process, so don’t make it a reason to stop using the product. Again, patience is key!

Getting the Approach Right When Using PanOxyl Adapalene Retinoid Gel

When you get the mix right with this kind of product, you can end up enjoying some pretty significant improvements for your skin. However, it requires a mindful approach that takes everything we’ve mentioned into account. By following these dos and don’ts, you can optimize its effectiveness while minimizing potential side effects, paving the way for clearer, healthier-looking skin.

Remember, if you’re ever in doubt, talk to your friendly neighbourhood dermatologist, who’ll be able to steer you right and help you avoid adverse reactions.
